Element & Compound

  1. Word Equations

    • Everything thats on one side of the equation goes on the other side
  2. Periodic Table

    • Group 1 metals: Lithium, Sodium, Potassium
    • Group 2: Magnesium, Calcium
    • Non-metals: Hydrogen, Sulphur, Oxygen, Carbon
    • Other Key Elements: Zinc, Copper, Iron
  3. Symbols

    • Group 1: Lithium=Li , Sodium= Na , Potassium=K
    • Group 2: Magnesium=Mg Calcium=Ca
    • Non-Metals: Hydrogen=H, Sulphur=S , Oxygen=O , Carbon=C
    • Other Elements: Zinc=Zn , Copper=Cu , Iron=Fe
  4. Elements and Atoms

    • Proton- a particle which is found in the nucleus in every atom. The particle has a positive electrical charge. The number of protons in an elements nucleus is called the atomic number.
    • Electron- Contains a charge of negative electricity and is found in all atoms acting as the primary carrier of electricity in solids.
    • Atom- is the smallest object that retains the properties of an element they are composed of electrons and a nucleus. The nucleus contains protons and neutrons. All atoms are electrically neutral, because every atom has an equal amount of electrons and protons.
    • Neutron- an uncharged elementary particle with no electricity. Has a mass nearly equal to that of a proton and is present in all known atomic nuclei other than the hydrogen nucleus.
