Racial Discrimination

19th Amendment- The amendment prohibits the states and the federal govenrment from denying the right to vote to citizens of the United States on the basis of sex.

National American Suffrage Association- Was formed on Febraury 18,1890 to work for women's suffrage in the United States. It was creted by the merger of two existing organizations, the National Woman Suffrage Association, and the Americn Woman Suffrage Association.

Jane Addams- Was a pioneer American settlement activist/reformer, social worker, public philospher, sociologist, author,and leader in women's suffrage and world peace. She was important for created by Hull House in Chicago, Illnois in 1889 and was named a co-winner of the 1931 Nobel Peace Prize.

Alice Paul- Was American suffragisy, feminist, and women's rights activist, and one of the main leaders and strategists of the campaign for the Nineteenth Amendment.

Hull House- Was a settlement house in the United States that was co-founded in 1889 by Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr. The Hull House was orgianlly meant to educate the working poor in subjects of arts and literature.

Booker T. Washington- Was an American educator, author, orator, and advisor to presidents of the United States. Between 1890 and 1915, Washington was the dominat leader in the African American community. During the Progressive Era Booker was fought against racism for blacks.

Tuskegee Institutue- Is a private, historically black universiy located in Tuskgee, Alabama, United States. It was established by Booker T. Washington.

NAACP- Is a civil rights organization in the United States, formed in 1909 as a bi-racial organization to advance justice for African Americans by W. E. B. Du Bous, Mary White Ovington and Morrfield Storey. During the Progressive Era the organization was to try to solve race within framework of ideologicals ideas of the Era.
