About poetry analysis and techniques notes
GoConqr OriginalPoetry analysis and techniques notes
These notes offer different ways into a poem. Start with the notes on how to analyse a poem if you want a general starting point. For a close look at one poem, try Island Man - analysis or Valentine. The notes on The Forge bring together quotations and techniques, including imagery and onomatopoeia.
From reading to practice
As you read a note, pick out a quotation and the technique discussed alongside it. Then put the explanation into your own words. For comparison practice, Havisham and Valentine comparison looks at how the poems explore love.
Notes are useful for reading an explanation in sequence. If you want a different way to organise the material, switch to a mind map on the unit page. When you are ready to check what you remember, use a quiz. Try a note and follow it with a quiz.
