Polymers

1. a material made of long chains of molecules, joining smaller molecules, called monomers

2. changing its properties

   • longer polymer chains: make polymer stronger and less flexible
   • plasticiser: small molecules added between polymer molecules to weaken the forces. Makes it more flexible and soft.
   • vulcunization: sulfur atoms become cross links, making it stronger and less flexible
