Cards in this deck (5)
- 1The CPU is like the 'brain' of the computerThe CPU fetches then decodes information, before executing it.
- 2The CPU has to decode information, as computers read only binary. The CPU can only do one thing at a time, however it can do it very quickly.
- 3Clock speed at which the computer's CPU works.Clock speed is measured in hertz. The more hertz the faster the CPU.
- 4A CPU contains processing units. These units are called cores.A core contains an ALU (calculations), a control unit (manages instructions) and a register (high speed memory that contains data to be processed).
- 5CPU's with more cores can run multiple programs at a time.CPU cores have to communicate with each other through channels.
