What are the three types of muscle cells? 1. voluntary/skeletal muscle 2. involuntary/smooth muscle 3. cardiac muscle
What are skeletal muscles? Muscles attached to your skeleton that you can move.
What is smooth muscle? Smooth muscle is muscle that work automatically without your assistance.
What is cardiac muscle? Heart muscle
Why do muscles, especially cardiac muscles, have so many mitochondria? To give them energy from food
What are neurons? Brain cells. They carry information from your brain to different parts of your body.
What are erythrocytes? Red blood cells (RBC) carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of your body and they carry some of the waste CO2 from cells back to your lungs so that you can breath it out.
What are leucocytes? White blood cells (WBC) are part of the immune system and protect the body from foreign objects, disease and infections.
What are brown fat cells? Fat cells that produce heat for your body.
What are white fat cells? Fat cells that are used to store energy and provide an insulating layer under the skin to maintain a constant bodily temperature.
Do plants have specialised cells? Name five of them. Plants do have specialised cells. These include: 1. Guard cells 2. Conducting cells 3. Root hairs 4. Structural cells 5. Photosynthetic cells
