Question Answer
The Anti-Social Network Short Film Plot The Anti-Social Network is a comedic short film which last for 15 minutes. Its about a social media addict named Lucas (played by Sam Mac). He is so consumed, the boundaries between his real life and his virtual reality are obsolete e.g. the word 'Like' appearing on the screen whilst walking down the street.. Whilst out he meets a girl named Leila (played by Shae-Lee Shackleford) who is the complete opposite to Lucas. She ties to teach Lucas that there are more important things that matter in life other than social media sites , however, It takes Facebook being cancelled to realize this which is shown at the end of the film. The Film end with a joke "Are you on twitter?" helping to fit into the comedy aspect of the film.
Camera Work I believe the camera work in this short film was very well presented. It includes a range of panning shot, close ups at a range of angles. One particular group of shots that stood out to me was when Lucas was waling to work and everyone he pasted somehow he associated them with Facebook e.g. : by having the like button appear above their heads. This clearly helped the audience to easily understand the plot of the film within a short amount of time. Another shot I liked was the use of a slow tracking shot which shown Lucas running down the street , this helped portray him as bring helpless as he finally realized what is import n life. This clearly helped to display the meaning of the film to its viewers in a short space of 15 minutes.
I found the editing impressive by they way the incorporated social media into the day to day reality of his life .The use of the Facebook notification , actions and sounds allowed the audience to see what the main character Is about and his addiction which combined reality with the hyper-reality of social media. The cuts and transitions between shots were very smooth and fitted well into the short film. The only negative of the editing which I believe may distract the audience was when the text and Facebook notifications appeared on the screen due to the audience focusing on them and not on what's happening which may be a bit confusing however it helped indicate that it was a short film.
