Question Answer
How do you calculate magnification? size of image/size of real object
How do you convert millimeters to micrometers, to nanometers, and back? x1000 for millimeters to micrometers, and micrometers to nanometers /1000 for nanometers to micrometers, and micrometers to millimeters
Define resolution How detailed the image is
What are the 3 types of microscope? Optical light microscope, transmission electron microscope and scanning electron microscope
What are the differences between optical light microscopes and electron microscopes? OMs have lower magnification and lower resolution, but you can use them on living things EMs have better magnification and resolution, but must be used on dead specimens
What are the differences between TEMs and SEMs? TEMs have higher resolution but can only be used on thin specimens SEMs have lower resolution but can be used on thick specimens, and can also produce 3D images Specimens must be dead for both microscopes
