-Obs and interpreting behaviour can help us understand their experience of loss and how to support, including helping express feelings
-Liminal feelings of ambiguity and being in-between - 4- Different trans. influence/created by wider social, econ & political factors -Some trans. more common. Less common often overlooked-Continuity important in supporting trans through active engaging children, fam & peers
-Signpost families to appropriate support/advide - 5-Be alert to different types of behaviour that can be associated with transitions -Responding to behaviour may involve direct work with child, parents or carers, referrals for specialist support-Resilient behaviour an asset found in some. A capacity that can be built through appropriate support in different parts of children’s systems
- Enduring, multiple transitions/severe adversity can impact on ability to develop resilient behaviour - 6- Range of feelings associated with transitions - Children possess capacities to deal with their feelings, although with very maltreated children these can be deep-seated- Support children with feelings. Provide space and time to express them, keep them private or just switch off
- Provide opportunities to choose and consent to support
- Preparatory work and rituals can help children dealing with loss and endings - 7-Provide sense of place to connect to help trans. -Build connections with fam, siblings, peers can help them cope. But they may need help to maintain these links.-Connectedness and trans can be represented through ecomaps, genograms, life story books
-Connecting to social networks needs attention to discriminatory processes and social exclusion
