Types Of Family
Nuclear Family Parents and children live together in a home. Contact with other family is limited and practical help isn't easily available.
Extended Family Parents and children live near or with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins etc. Practical help both emotional and social is available.
Step Family When one or both people in a couple with children from a previous relationship remarry, cohabit. They can be difficult to establish.
Single-Parent Family Is usually a mother and her children, not always the case.
Shared Care Family Children live in 2 households and spend time with both parents. They can maintain relationship with both parents and joint decisions are made.
Adoptive Family Provide a permanent home for the child. They are given same legal rights and responsibilities as birth parents.
