Definition of Experimental Photography
- Experimental Photography is often a form of photography in which alternative techniques are deployed, techniques that are uncommon with usual photography or digital photography. Hence, the photo comes out as different and unique, with simple scenes being tunred into something more meaningful and thought provoking, as a result of the distinct way in which the photo was captured
Popular Forms of Experimental Photography
- Photo montages are perhaps the most common sub-type of experimental photography, and involves combining pieces of photographs and graphic materials together, to create "one scene"
- Gum Prints are also a favourite in regards to experimental photography, with this technique dealing in darkroom processes, instead of alterations being made to the way the photo is taken. Negatives, coatings and exposures create the effect that they want.
- Performance Art photography combines, simply, art and performance art. |Photographers can be creative as possible, and many forms of art can be created.
- Photograms, though not particularly popular, involves the use of light sensitive paper, not a camera, to expose an object to the light
