3. Key terms of a database

   • A file
     • The whole set of data in a database
   • A record
     • Information on one single subject (e.g. one pupil in a school)
   • A field
     • Each seperate heading of information inside a record (e.g. date of birth)

4. Searching fields

   • Search/query allow the user to select information from the database from one particular field
     • 1. State the name of the field you want to search
     • 2. State the operation
       • Greater than
       • Less than
       • Equal to
       • Greater than and equal to
       • Less than and equal to
     • 3. State what you are looking for
     • SQL
       • Example of a query
         • Search a car database for every red car
           • SELECT* From 'Cars' Where Colour="RED"
         • Search a fruit database for all bananas
           • SELECT* From 'Fruit' Where Type= "Banana"
