  1. Free will- ability to make decisions and chose behaviours freely
    1. Determinism- all behaviour is caused by prior events and other factors
      1. Dualism - the mind and body are different substances that exist independantly. Interact via the pineal gland
        1. Interactionism- interact between each other and influence each other
          1. Parallelism- coexist alongside each other but do not interact
            1. Epiphenomenalism- mind is separate but is a non-physical byproduct of the brain
            2. Monism- the universe consists of only one kind of substance
              1. Materialism- everything is physical and psych experiences will later be explained in physical terms
                1. Mentalism- only the mind exists
                  1. Identity position- mental and brain processes are the same thing, just described in different terms
