DENTINE is highly tubular
1. May contain cell process, nerves, fluid that flows out due to Pulp pressure
  1. Makes dentine a VITAL Tissue
DENTINE FORMATION
1. Mineralised produced by odontoblasts
  1. Retreat inwards from ADJ
  2. Organic matrix(predentine) that sis then mineralised to dentine
  3. Long odontoblast processes that retreat due to dentinal tubules
NERVES IN DENTINE
1. Sparsely innervated
  1. most located at predentine near pulp horns
CLASSIFICATIONS OF DENTINE
1. MANTLE:laid down first at ADJ
  1. CIRCUMPULPAL:rest of dentine, parallel to ADJ
    1. PRIMARY:formed during tooth development
      1. SECONDARY:formed after root completion
        TERTIARY:response to pulpal irritation
        2 types:Reactionary uses existing Odontoblasts
        Reparative:recruits new odontoblasts
      2. PERI TUBULAR:around tubules
        INTRA TUBULAR: between tubules

DEFENCE RESPONSES OF DENTINE
1. SCLEROIS: tubules become blocked with pertubular dentine
  1. found under low grade stimulis (protective)
