Step 1: find the level of accuracy e.g. 0.1

Step 2: half of the level of accuracy . this is the tolerance, hoe much of the rounded off number will be changed by e.g. 0.05

Step 3: add this to find the upper bound, take it away to find the lower bound.

4m:

upper = 4.5

lower =3.5

5m:

upper = 5.5

lower = 4.5

Lower area: = 3.5 x 4.5 = 15.75m^2

Upper area = 4.5 x 5.5 = 24.75m^2

Area = 20m^2

Biggest = Upper bound/lower bound

Smallest = Lower bound/ upper bound

E.G.

24 and 21

Upper 24.5 and 21.5

Lower 23.5 and 20.5

Biggest = 24.5 x 21.5

Lowest = 23.5 x 20.5
