Flow productionOne advantage of flow production is that many processes which require labour input can be broken down into small tasks. As a result, a number of small specialised tasks are formed and the amount of time needed to train workers to do the task might be shorter. This will mean that workers will be more motivated as they won't be doing boring repetitive tasks, rather they will be able to specialise in production tasks, and productivity will improve.

Lean productionAnother way to save costs is to use lean production. The most important feature of this is just-in-time production. This is where the manufacturer orders supplies as and when they are needed, or for a delivery date, so they can be used immediately.

Quality controlA quality good is one that fits its purpose and does what it is supposed to do. Quality is important because if a product is value for money, more people will buy the product and will use word of mouth to advertise the product to others. Also production may be disrupted if quality falls- production will slow down, efficiency will fall and costs will rise, meaning the company makes less profit
