The head was
discovered to have turned from facing the south to the north-east
A senior Lama had a
vision, he saw the Tibetan letters, Ah, Ka and Ma float into view
He then saw a three
storied monastery with a turquoise and gold room and a path running from it, to
a hill
The senior Lama
then saw a small house with strangely shaped guttering
He was sure that
the letter Ah referred to Amdo, the Northeastern province, so it was there the
search party was sent
They realised Ka
must indicate the monastery Kumbum, which was indeed a three-storied building
with turquoise-roofed. They now only need to locate a house with peculiar
guttering
They then saw the
gnarled branches of juniper wood on the roof of his holiness’ parent’s house
They then asked to
stay the night whilst they did this the leader of the party disguise himself as
a servant, and played with the youngest child in the house
The child
recognized him and called out “Sera Lama, Sera Lama”. Sera was the leader of
the partys Rinpoche’s monastery
A few days later
they returned and with them bought objects that belong to the 13th
Dalai Lama
Every time they brought out a
different object he correctly identified them to the 13th Dalai Lama
by saying “it’s mine”
They were convinced that this
was the reincarnation
