Marxist Lens

Through a Marxist lens, Mr Birling can be seen as the bourgeoisie whilst Eva Smith ane middle class, the reader would expectd the rest of the rest of the working class are seen as the proletariat. This is because the bourgeoise was seen to be the rich and greedy organisations and businesses whose sole purpose was to focus on gaining more money and profit. This is in contrast to the proletariat who are poor and spend most of their money trying to survive on the little they have , whilst most of their hard earned money ends back in thr hands of the bourgeoise. As Mr Birling transitioned from the working class to the middle class, the reader would expect him to have more sympathy towards Eva Smith. However, he is unconsiderate regarding her financial issues and is adamant on giving her a minimal wage.
