Bill of Rights vs Declaration of Independence

The Bill of Rights was added to the constitution to explain the rights of a citizen in the states.
The Declaration of Independence was written to explain the freedom and rights the colonists had from Britain.
The Bill of Rights was needed because many states believed that it could prevent people's misconstruction or abuse of their powers.
James Madison and George Mason are said to have written the Bill of Rights.
The authors of the Declaration of Independence were Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and others.
The Declaration of Independence also explained the reasons it had decided on independence from Britain.
Both express that all people have equal rights.
The Declaration of Independence was established on July 4, 1776.
The Bill of Rights were established in 1789
Declaration of sentiments
1. Grievances
  1. Married women had no property rights
  2. Women were made totally dependent on men
  3. Women were not allowed to vote
  4. Women were legally dead in the eye of the law.
  5. Women had to submit to laws when they had no voice in their formation.
  6. Divorce and child custody laws favored men, giving no rights to women
  7. Most occupations were not open to men and when women did work they were only paid a fraction of that of men.
2. Both the Declaration of Independence and the Declaration of Sentiments are expressing their need for freedom, only one is discussing the freedom having separate rights from Britain and the other is discussing freedom having separate rights from men.
3. Just as many declared freedom from British in 1776, women wanted their freedom in the 1840s. It had to be hard living life how a woman's husband told her to live and not being able to have her own belongings.
