Type 1 & type 2 errors
- Type 1 error - rejecting null when it was true - p-value is the probability of making a type 1 error
- Type 1 errors arise because even if P-value very small, there is still a small chance that the data were not consistent with the null just due to sampling error
- Type 2 - rejecting research hypothesis when it is true
- Type 2 errors usually arise due to poorly designed study e.g sample too small or biased
- Type 1 error - rejecting null when it was true - p-value is the probability of making a type 1 error
