2. Vector and Bitmap Graphics

   • Vector
     • Can be resized with no loss of definition, small file size, grouped, cannot be compressed, high processing power
   • Bitmap
     • Pixellation when resized, large file size, cannot be grouped, compressed

     • Vector
       • Design and CAD packages; change size perspectives, size and proportions
     • Bitmap
       • Scanner/camera is used, clipart, sometimes be changed and edited, saved as BMP, GIF and JPEG

3. Graphics Libraries

     • Kitchen Design
       • Standard symbols, planning and designing kitchen layout
     • Cartography
       • Symbols used in the ordanance survey so maps created will use standard symbols
     • Network Design
       • Industry-standard symbols for main components needed in a network

     • Industry standard images available, symbols recognized throughout the world
     • Difficult to keep up-to-date, unavailable components used, new components not available immediately

     • Limited choice, variable quality, copyright issues
     • Immediately available, no extra hardware, reduce cost
   • Thumbnail
     • Multiple images viewed at the same time, descriptions, grouped
     • Poor quality, long loading time

6. Mail Merge

   • Documents produced quickly, only one document needs to be proofread, data source used more than once, standard template used
   • Data source created > standard document created > data source and document linked > docs printed
