1. Effects of training on the circulatory system

   • Increased SV
   • Lower H/R for any task
   • Cardiac hypertrophy (strengthening of the heart)
   • Bradycardia
   • Increased levels of plasma
     • Lower viscoctiy
   • Greater oxygen extraction from blood
     • Increased Atrio/Ventrical blood difference

2. Components of the ciculatory system

   • Blood
     • Contents: White blood cells, Red blood cellls, platelets
       • White blood cells
         • Fight infection and disease
       • Platelets
         • Cause clotting
       • Red blood cells
         • Carry oxygen
   • Heart
     • Cardiac output (Q)= Stroke voulme (SV)*Heart rate (BPM)
   • Blood vessels
     • Veins
       • Take blood back to the heart
         • Carry de-oxygenated bllood
           • Pulmonary vein is only vein that carries oxygenated blood (from the lungs)
       • Veins contain valves to stop blod flowing backwards
     • Arteries
       • Take blood away from the heart
         • Carries oxygenated blood
           • Pulmonary artery is only artery that carries oxygenated blood (to the lungs)
