He started translating the new testament into English in 1523

In 1524 he went to Germany for safety, he sought out the help of Martin Luther

He finished translating the New Testament in Cologne 1525

A year after it was completed copies were being smuggled into England

HIs work was denounced by the authorities of the catholic church, and was accused of heresy

When Henry VIII broke from rome he came out of hiding and lived more openly in Antwerp (Belgium)

He was Betrayed by his friend Henry Phillips

6 Oct 1536 he was convicted of Heresy and Treason
