B4 - Lock and Key method
Slides in this set (3)
-
- The first step of the key and lock method.
- An active site only specifically fits one type of substrate molecule.
- It is called the lock and key method as like a key to a door the substrate molecule is specific to the active site, and no other keys fit.

-

- Once the substrate molecule joins with its specific active site the enzyme substrate molecule is produced. The bonds in the substrate molecule are weakened.
-

- Eventually the bonds break and the product molecules are made. The reaction has then occurred.
- Particular active sites help to speed up reactions with reactions.
- An example of all of the reaction is Catalyse is the Substrate molecule, the products are Hydrogen Peroxide.
