December 28. Pg 4. Beta Minus Decay: Because the Q value is quoted using the ground states of the parent and daughter atoms, the actual Q value may be different. Because different transition atoms are possible, the actual energies may be a spectrum of different energies.

December 28. PG 5. Internal Capture: IC is the only good source of high energy electrons. They have a relatively consistent energy spectrum because they come from a shell of the atom which needs to have a quantized energy.

December 28, Pg 6. Auger Electrons: AE is favored by low Z atoms which have lower binding energies of the electrons. Energy released is lower than IC and Beta because of the low binding energy, but is still discrete and quantized.

December 28. Alpha Decay: Alpha energy is between 4 and 6 Mev. There is a correlation between half life and energy. Longer half life is lower energy. shorter half life is higher energy. The best source for alha decay is Am-241
