Cards in this deck (11)

  1. 1What are the five principles of cloud computing?Pooled Resources
    Virtualisation
    Elasticity
    Automation
    Metered Billing
  2. 2What do IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS stand for respectively? Provide an example for each one of them.IaaS: Infrastructure as a service e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Compute Engine (GCE)
PaaS: Platform as a service e.g. AWS, Azure,Apache Stratos
SaaS: Software as a service e.g. Dropbox, Google App, Concur
  3. 3What is the main economic benefit of cloud computing? No need to pay and maintain for a dedicated server no matter the demand. You only pay for what you use and the reduce the time and money spent on management and upgrading of software. The costs move from capital expenses (CAPEX) top operational expenses (OPEX)
  4. 4What does hybrid cloud mean? When should an organisation consider using a hybrid cloud?A composition of two or more cloud types.
If a business wants to host critical applications in their private cloud but use a public cloud for less secure applications
Or if a business needs to utilise extra cloud utilities for peak loads.
  5. 5What are the four cloud types?Public - available to the public for free or pay-per-use
Private - Used by a single organisation
Community - used by multiple organisation that have a shared interest
Hybrid - Composition of two or more clouds
  6. 6What are the benefits of cloud computingEconomic - CAPEX to OPEX
Agility - not having to buy and maintain servers
Efficiency - can create competitive advantages
Security - better in the cloud
  7. 7What does NoSQL mean? Provide an example of NoSQL.Not only SQL. MongoDB
  8. 8What is the CAP theorem? The concept that a distributed database can only have two of the three properties:
    Consistency
    Availability
    Partition Tolerance.
  9. 9What are the definitions of the three properties of CAP Theorem?Consistency: all nodes see data at the same time
Availability: node failures do not stop survivors from continuing to operate
Partition Tolerance: the system continues to run despite messages between nodes being delayed
  10. 10What are the properties of a distributed system?Reliability
    Scalability
    Availability
    Efficiency
