Probability
m and n = m x n
m or n = m + n
- "At Least 2" - 2 or more - add up all Probabilities bigger than 2
- P(A or B) = P(A) +P(B) - P(A and B)
- MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE
Probability involves the likelihood of something happening
- P(E) = No. of ways it can happen/ All Possible Outcomes
Trial = Roll a Dice, Flip a coin...
Possible Outcomes = All possible results of doing something
0 < P(E) < 1
- Goes from 0 to 1
Probability can never be negative
Zero Chance -> Probability = 0
Certain Chance -> Probability = 1
Probability Scale
Probability of event happening and the probability of it NOT happening = 1
- P(Not E) = 1 - P(E)
Full Deck of Cards = 52 Cards
- 4 suits (2 RED, 2 BLACK) with 13 cards each... Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs and Spades
- Ace 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Jack Queen King
Relative Frequency = No. of successful Trials ÷ No. of Trials
- Expected no. of outcomes = relative frequency x No. of Trails
- Relative Frequency is not actually the Probability of something but is a good guess... Gets more accurate with the more experiments carried out
Sample Space
- Two-Way Tables
- Tree Diagrams
- To calculate the Probability along a path, multiply the branches
Expected Value = Sum of the outcomes mulltiplied by the probability
