TIMELINE
1808
- Dalton's atomic model emerged in the context of chemistry, it was the first scientifically based atomic model, formulated in 1808 by John Dalton.
1904
- Joseph J. Thomson proposed a very elementary model: the atom is made up of a sphere of matter with a positive charge, in which electrons are found embedded in sufficient numbers to neutralize its charge.
1911
- Ernest Rutherford In his atomic model, Rutherford proposed that atoms have a central nucleus where the greatest percentage of their mass is found.
1922
- Bohr was the first to apply quantum theory to the problem of atomic and molecular structure.
1926
- Schrödinger's atomic model was developed in 1926. It is the quantum mechanical model of the atom based on the Schrödiger equation.
1935
- his main contributions were in the field of nuclear physics since he discovered an atomic particle without charge in the nucleus of the atom, known today as a neutron. In 1935 he received the Nobel Prize in Physics.
- Chadwick also discovered tritium.
