Isotopes
All atoms of the same element have the same number of protons in their nucleus.
Isotopes are atoms of the same element with different numbers of neutrons in their nucleus. They have the same number of protons and electrons, and the same chemical properties but a different mass.
Hydrogen has 3 isotopes: 3H, 2H and 1H.
Relative atomic mass is the average mass of an atom of the element, taking into account the number and abundance of all the different isotopes.
Because of the existence of isotope, not all relative atomic masses are whole numbers.
