     • The motherboard connects and controls all of the essential elements of a computer or digital device

2. PROCESSOR

   • FUNCTION
     • The processor acts as the computer's brain, running programs and sending and receiving signals to attached devices to keep the computer running.

     • -volatile * only maintains its data while device is powered
     • -non volatile *secondary storage

     • Known as RAM and used as temporary application data storage

6. ADAPTER CARD

   • FUNCTION
     • physical device thats allows one hardware to be adapted to another hardware
   • TYPES
     • A) video adapter card -generate Images and display them on an external device
     • B) multimedia adapter card - for multimedia function such as sound or images to be transmitted on device to computer
     • C) Network interface card - provide the interface between the network and pc
     • D) input or output adapter card - provide additional ports such as usb port or serial and parallel port
