Setting
The setting is what surrounds the story whether someone’s at school, or the park, those are all settings.
There are many things authors can describe in the setting such as the date or time of day, the location, the weather, the social conditions, and the immediate surroundings.
Author’s use what the reader might see or hear if they were there to set the scene.
There are also important things we can learn from the setting.
We can learn that some authors can choose between building the storyline line by line. Some authors may just put it all out there at the very beginning.
Sometimes authors will give away the whole story in the prologue but in a way so confusing that you would never have guessed what it meant until you read the entire book.
Stanzas in a poem can have many different settings. In each stanza, the author might give hints to a different setting the poem might be in.
Different settings could be in the same poem.
Sometimes different stanzas in the same poem have different settings.
Sometimes stories will take place in the same setting, but the story is very different.
Authors do this to show how different life can be for different people even when in the same place.
