  1. Microscope History

    • Robert brooke is a scientist who used the light microscope to capture the image of tissue from plants and through the process discovered and recorded cells.
    • Microscopes have been around for over 350 years. Hans and Janssen are credited for constructing the first microscope.
    • Modern microscopes have been developed and are greater tools to see cells and details in great proportion and quality by using a lens that can magnify from 1500 to 2 million times.
    • However electron microscopes use beams of electrons to create a more finer detailed image of the tissues or cells in colour and more accurately.
    • We can now calculate the manification by using the formula:
    • Length of image divide by length of object = magnification
    • For example; if a specimen appeared 10mm in length under a microscope with a magnification of 1,000 times, the calculation of the actual length will be:
    • length of object = 10 divide by 1,000 = 0.1 mm
