Using verb tenses overview notes

The notes give you different ways into the unit. Present Simple looks at the form and use of the tense, while the notes on future tense compare will and going to. Conditionals in English grammar covers conditional forms and their punctuation.

For a starting point, try Present Simple if you want to review how a tense is formed. If you prefer to see grammar in context, the past perfect note uses an excerpt from Matilda. The French Revolution note combines past-tense listening with grammar and discussion activities.

From reading to practice

Read one note at a time and make a short summary of the forms or examples it gives. Return to the note when you need to check a point. If you want a visual overview instead, switch to a mind map on the unit page; for a chance to test your recall, try a quiz there.
