Verb tenses overview mind maps

These mind maps organise verb forms and related grammar into visual branches. The Present Perfect Simple map brings together forms, uses and expressions. Past Continuous includes examples of interrupted actions and actions happening at the same time. Other maps cover narrative tenses, passive voice, gerunds and infinitives.

How to revise with a map

Start with the simple past map if you want to review was and were alongside regular verbs. Read one branch at a time, then cover it and try to recall the forms and examples. Return to the map to check what you remembered.

When you are ready to compare forms, open Present Perfect Simple vs Continuous or Present Simple vs Present Continuous. If you want to practise choosing an answer, switch to a quiz on the unit page. Notes on that page offer another format for reading about a topic.

Pick a tense and follow its branches through the map.
