1. TULVING ET AL

   • brain scan; show different type of memory in different part of brain
     • episodic memory recalled from pre-frontal cortex
     • semantic memory in posterior region of cortex
       • physical evidence

2. DECLARATIVE

   • SEMANTIC
     • info about the world
     • conscious effort to recall
     • less personal, not time stamped
   • EPISODIC
     • episodes; strength of recall = emotion
     • people,places,objects
     • time stamped, conscious effort to recall

3. PROCEDURAL

   • implicit, motor skills
   • action without need to recall how they happen
   • formed in early life

4. CLIVE WEARING

   • lost declarative memory but has procedural memory
     • shows LTM is not unitary - clinical evidence

5. SEPERATE SEMANTIC AND EPISODIC

   • no distinct line, are episodic a gateway to semantic or are they independent?
     • you may remember where you learnt a fact
