1. When co-witnesses to a crime discuss it with each other their eyewitness testimonies may become contaminated. This is because they combine information from other witnesses with their own memories.

   • 2. pps watched a video to a crime, but filmed from different point of view
     • this meant that participants could see elements in the event that the other could not
   • 3.Both participants then discussed what they had seen before individually completing a test of recall
   • Findings
     • 71% mistakenly recalled events not seen in video but picked up through discussion
     • control group- no discussion 0%
     • conclusion: Witnesses often go along with each other, either for to win social approval or they believe the other is right and they are wrong- memory conformity
