1. Found during the concrete-operational stage of Piaget's theory

   • being able to put things in order (Seriation)
   • reversibility, actions can be undone

2. decalage

   • number
     • when presented with 2 rows of identical counters, bottom row is then spread out.first task to be passed approx 5yrs
   • substance/mass
     • when presented with 2 identical balls of clay, one is then squashed to a sausage shape. passed by child 6 or 7yrs.
   • weight
     • when presented with 2 identical pieces of clay, then one is squashed flat
       • achieved by age 9 or 10yrs
   • liquid
     • 2 identical jars with the same amount of liquid then 1 is poured into a tall narrow jar.
       • achieved by age 7
   • volume
     • when presented with 2 identical glass jars both containing identical pieces of clay, One piece of clay is removed reshaped
       • achieved by age 11yrs.
   • when stages can be achieved at different times all attaining to the same goal.
   • length
     • 2 equal lengthed sticks then 1 moved to one direction

3. PERCEIVED APPEARANCE vs iNFERRED REALITY; child's visual decides how they see something
