Attachment: a two-way strong emotional tie that develops over time between two people, own in their behaviour.
Why do we need attachment?
Short term benefit - survival
Long term benefits - emotional relationships
Believed first relationship acts as a template for later relationships
Reciprocity: two-way, or something that is mutual. Infant and care-giver
