What was the purpose of the Council of Trent? The purpose of the Council of Trent was to fix the Catholic Church and get rid of the corruption, deal with the threat of Protestantism, and reaffirm the Catholic values.

What were two religious ideas that the Council of Trent confirmed? 1. Indulgences are okay. 2. Only the Church, not the individual, could properly understand/interpret the Bible.
What were the Calvinists in France called? The Huguenots.
What was the Saint Bartholomew's Day Massacre? In 1572, French queen, Catherine de Medici urged the murder of all the Protestant guests during a royal wedding on Saint Bartholomew's Day.
What was the Edict/Treaty of Nantes? The Edict/Treaty of Nantes was a treaty signed in 1598 that allowed Protestants to practise their own religion in France.
