Milling Wheat into Flour

Wheat is milled in a combine harvester

Grains are sent from the farm to the milling factory

Stones and dirt is removed by machines and sieves

Machines called rollers crack open the wheat

Parts of the wheat are seperated; wheat-germ , bran and endosperm

Ground endosperm (semolina) is sieved to rid anymore bran

Fine ground endosperm is white flour

Bran is added back in to make wholemeal wheat

Breakfast cereal is made from the bran/endosperm
