Levels of processing (C&L)
- -information is not a conscious action but a consequence of the way information is processed
- Information that is thought deeply about is more likely to be remembered
- 3 levels- structural processing (what things look look like) least remembered
- Acoustic processing- what things sound like
- Semantic processing- what things mean- most remembered

- Maintenance rehearsal
- Rehearse information in order to preserve it for a short period of time- weak memory
- Elaboration rehearsal
- A deeper consideration is given to the information by giving it meaning (durable memory)
- Evaluation
- Strengths
