Resource summary
How far had Wiemar Germany recovered from its problems by 1928?
Had recovered to an extent:
No takeover attempts by Communists or Nazis since 1923 and support for extremist parties low.
Most Germans seemed to have accepted the Weimar Government and gave it their support
Economy was strong and productive.
Unemployment was low and peoples standard of living had improved
Germany was no longer an international outcast, she'd now been admitted to the League of Nations
Also had much better relations with Britain and France
Had not fully recovered:
Economy was far too dependent on US loans.
If these stopped the economy was not strong enough to continue to grow on its own
Extremist groups still existed and were still determined to destroy Wiemar Germany
They were waiting for next opportunity to bring down wiemar
Millions of Germans had not forgiven Wiemar for the surrender, the ToV or the chaos of the early 20s
They only tolerated Wiemar as long as things were going well.
As soon as they went badly again, they would desert and look for other options
