  1. A balanced diet contains the right amounts of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, fibre and water.
    1. Your body uses carbs, proteins and fats to release energy you need to live and build new cells.
      1. Your body needs vitamins and minerals to work healthily, without these you will suffer from deficiency diseases.
      2. Malnourished - the condition when your body does not get a balanced diet.
        1. Metabolic rate - the rate at which reactions take place in the body. Men generally have higher metabolic rates yet it be affected by muscle to fat proportion, amount of exercise and inherited factors.
          1. Inherited - passed on from parents to their offspring through genes.
          2. Different people need different amount of energy.
            1. The more exercise you do, the more food you need to take in.
