1. Materials

   • Metals:
     • Aluminium: Lightweight and Soft, good conductor and corrosion resistant.
       • Copper: Malleable and ductile, an excellent conductor.
         • Steel: Hard tough and strong.
           • Brass: Malleable, good condictor and corrosion resistant.
   • Plastics:
     • Acrylic: Can be bent with a strip heater and you can use it as a window
       • Nylon: Tough and strong thermoplasitc, used to make gears.
         • PVC: Cheap, durable, strong and rigid used in many things.

3. Mechanisms

   • Rack and Pinion. Able to turn rotary motion into linear motion.
   • Spur Gear. Able to convert the speeds of gears side by side.
   • Winch.Includes a spool and wire, able to shorten or lengthen the slack of the wire, could be useful for the door.
   • Chain and sprocket. Converts motion into torque.

4. Electronics

   • Single throw switch, able to turn things on and off.
   • Battery, used to provide power for electronics.
   • In line motor. Readily available and allows motion in both ways.
   • LED. Able to emit colorful light when electricity is passed through it.
