1. Core Theory - Multi-store Model of Memory

   • The information is firstly inputed from the environment.
     • It is then encoded into the sensory memory.
       • If attention is applied to that memory then it will be transferred to the short term memory store.
         • If it is then maintenance rehearsed it is then transferred to the long term memory store.
           • When a memory needs to be outputted (remembered) the memory is retrieved from the long term memory store to the short term memory store. It is then outputted.
   • Short term memory: Capacity - 7+-2 Duration 30 seconds
   • Long tern memory: Capacity - unlimited Duration - unlimited
   • Decay - the fading of information over time until it is forgotten.
   • Displacement - Where information is replaced by new information because it is full.
