SSRI
- Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors.
- The SSRI prevents unused Serotonin from
being retaken back up into the terminal
button and being broken down.
- Instead the unused Serotonin remains in the synapse
until the currently being used Serotonin is used up,
making way for the remaining Serotonin to be used.
- Strengths:
- Reduced symptoms of depression
- Reduced chance of suicide
- Work faster than other therapies
- Low price

- Not more effective than placebos
- Other treatments more effective long-term
