Unit 3 P3 Task 2 Coastal Resort- Skegness Skegness is a seaside town and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, and is located on the Lincolnshire coast of the North sea, which is 43 miles East of Lincoln. It is well known as a popular UK seaside resort, and attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year, due to its attractions (such as the Skegness Pier) and beach atmosphere. Accessibility The most common way people use to get to Skegness is by car, as it’s normally the cheapest option if you’re taking a fair amount of luggage, but there are other ways to get there, but you could also get coaches or trains to Skegness, depending on the amount of luggage you have, but is the best option for transporting large groups of people. Natural Features The main natural feature which Skegness has is the beach, which is its main attraction, but there are other natural features such as a nature reserve, and a park. The main attractions are built, which is what makes it a tourist landmark of the United Kingdom Built Attractions Skegness is full of built attractions, such as Butlins, a stadium, its famous pier, golf courses, and many of mini-attractions which make up a huge tourism industry in Skegness alone. Skegness is one of the largest UK seaside resorts due to this. Facilities Skegness has a wide range of facilities to accommodate the sheer amount of tourists it receives. Examples include Fantasy Island and Natureland Seal Sanctuary, as well as a large number of hotels and B&B’s. Finally, there is also a number of seaside restaurants, and cafés for if you want to eat out somewhere with a scenic view. It has public toilets and disabled access In most of its modern buildings Other Features As Skegness is never short of tourists, there are many events that go on throughout the year, to keep the tourists happy. Events include the Skegness beach race, Brass Band Festival, Skegness Carnival, and the biggest of all the Skegness Illuminations. The good thing about all of the events and things to do it that nearly all of them are suitable for all ages, which is what makes it a perfect place for a family holiday or day out. In Skegness you will find that most of the attractions are typical seaside attractions, such as arcades, but some of the attractions are made specifically to be in Skegness only.
