The girls should typically look the same, as their personality is what should distinguish them. As we want to mirror our target audience, we want to make the girls appear within the most popular social group. From research that Channel 4s UK Tribes had completed, we're aiming to target the social group of 'Mainstream' and 'Alternative'. Meaning the characters clothes will be from the high-street shops that support the indie/hipster vibe that has recently developed into the sub-cultures We feel most of the target audience would be able to be mirrored through this look due to it becoming a trend for that specific age group and even developing their own stereotypes of 'Basic' or 'Hipster'. Clothing shops that support this are Topshop, H&M, New look & the most popular for this, Urban Outfitters. The increase in this trend stemmed from social media sharing, such as the 'Tumblr girl' look on a photo sharing platform called 'Tumblr'. Its also evident that the music industry played a role in increasing this look - such as musicians such as Lana Del Ray, Lorde, Arianna Grande when trying to develop a more casual look. As these stars are highly desired by the audience, they adapted this look due to social demand. We asked both our chosen actors to wear what they normally would, yet asked the antagonist to wear darker clothing or have something significant about them - such as the clothing from 'Orphan' which are used to begin reinforcing suspisions about her true nature. By using the own actors clothing - who is actually part of our target audience - would therefore, this would enforce our idea of having the clothing to be realistic to the rest of our audience. PropsWeapon: We decided to use a kitchen knife as our main weapon for the antagonist to use. We chose this because its an ordinary object that most households will have, yet it can be manipulated into an object that possesses evil acts. Therefore, adding verisimilitude to our narrative - as the girl isn't capable of obtaining any extraordinary weapons that would break the realism. We want our character to always mirror the audience - with a twist sometimes which will be formed due to her obsessions. Phone & Social MediaWe decided to include this because it allows the audience to know there are other relationships and a world outside of the things they are being shown. It also mirrors the habits of the teenage characters - which makes them seem more real to the audience. Especially as our theme is obsession and they are stereotyped for being obsession/addicted to their mobile phones that have access to the social medias with current fads. Therefore, supporting our theme of how easy it is for teenagers, like our antagonist, to become addicted to certain things on the internet. PhotosThese are timeless things that are used in many thrillers, yet we're putting a modern twist on it by showing them through social media. To be exact, we'll use the photo sharing system on Facebook with an album as if from the characters personal account. However, to show a more dramatic effect with the photos, we want the antagonist to destroy printed photos - which is typically more traditional. This therefore shows the history of thrillers and the timeless genre which is brought into modern films today.
