What elements make up carbohydrates?
Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen
What are carbohydrates?
Polymers formed from monosaccharides (monomers).
What are the isomers of glucose?
Alpha-glucose and beta-glucose.
What is the difference between alpha glucose and beta glucose?
The position of the hydroxyl group (OH) on the 1st carbon; In alpha glucose it points downwards/is below the carbon. However, in beta glucose, it points upwards/is above the carbon.
