GANDHI's ROLE IN THE STRUGGLE FOR SWARAJ
1917 - Champaran, Bihar - took up cause of tenants of indigo planters. Campaign against English Indigo planters marked the 1st victory in India of the weapon of Satyagraha
Satyagraha of 1919 - opposition to Rowlatt Act.
Non-cooperation movement 1920 - result of Jalianwala bagh tragedy. Joined forces with the muslim Khilafat movement. Halted after Chauri-Chaura incident.
